Inspiration

Since the beginning of Start to Share in 2007, many people have been inspired to make a contribution in their own way. A few examples:

Citizens sharing concerns….
Serve the City is a campaign that has taken place in different European cities over the last few years. During these campaign days, citizens help the less fortunate in their community in many different ways. This year, Serve the City took place in Lisbon, from July 24th to July 28th. Inhabitants also served Casa Sol during these days! They painted all the outside walls and fixed up the small courtyard, so the children can safely play outside with nice weather.

Duimstokers shares profits..
Duimstokers is the company of carpenter Michel Tossaint. He custom makes wooden furniture feauturing elements from Africa, such as statues and masks. The customer pays Duimstokers for the material used, but directly pays the labour fees to Start to Share!

Sharing prosperity on anniversary….
Jet en Wilko celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. They received a lot of envelopes containing money. They donated most of it to Start to Share. 'Because we realise how fortunate we are and we like to contribute to a good cause'.

Anya recently turned 40. She did not want any presents. Because, she says: ‘I have everything I could wish for’. Instead she asked her friends to make a donation to Start to Share.

Painter sharing flowers....
Nasrin loves to paint flowers. She had cards printed from some of the paintings, which she sells to her friends, neighbours and family. Part of the proceeds she uses to make new cards. The rest she donates to Start to Share!

Children sharing friendship….
When Victoria in Holland heard about the children in Casa Sol she immediately wanted do to something to help. She now writes letters in English with Maria. In school she told her class about Casa Sol and now more children from Casa Sol have a pen pal in the Netherlands. A beautiful example of children sharing their daily events and thoughts in friendship.

Web builders sharing knowledge….
Employees of Greystone Ltd. and Refresh Media offered to build a website for Start to Share free of charge. The website is an important tool in reaching people and informing them about the work and objectives of Start to Share.

Start to Share is thankful to everyone sharing their voluntary initiative and support! Together we help the children of Casa Sol! Do you want to share as well? Click here
